Chapter XII : The Sayers of the Law

They reach a semi circular place where Charles meets a little human with strong sloth-like features. Suddenly, Charles becomes the center of attention in the place. All the other "humans" stare at him and whisper about him. Then, a loud voice calls out he is a "man". After this, the voice says many different rules, or "laws", that Charles has to repeat. Some of these include do not walk on all fours, do not eat meat, and so on. These laws are said by the voice who is the speaker of the law. Charles sees Moreau standing with the sayer of the law, and he runs away yet again. He falls down a ravine, and lays there.
