Chapter (Unlucky) XIII : A Parley

Charles get back up and runs toward the beach. He wades into shallow water when Moreau and Montgomery and the other "men" show up. Moreau and Montgomery ask if Charles has gone mad. Instead, Charles replies he does not want to be tortured by them, and threatens to drown himself. Moreau explains the cry of the "man" was also the puma. Moreau asks Charles if he will just listen to his side of the story first. Charles reluctantly agrees.
